‘The Yard’ has partnered up with Blast Motion Baseball, the official bat sensor technology of Major League Baseball. Blast Motion is a training device for players, coaches, and instructor’s that will provide real time swing metrics and analysis to help further a players’ knowledge and development of their swing. When using Blast Motion sensor devices, players, coaches, and instructors will have real time results of a players’:
-bat speed- the total speed of the barrel at impact
-peak hand speed- the fastest hand speed reached throughout the swing
-attack angle- the angle that the barrel approaches the ball at impact
-vertical bat angle- the steepness of the barrel at impact from a catcher’s perspective
-plane score- scores your ‘on plane efficiency’ for each swing
-on plane efficiency- measures the percentage of your swing where the bat is on the swing plane
-rotation score- scores your rotational acceleration for each swing
-rotational acceleration- measures how quickly your bat accelerates into the swing plane
-connection score- scores how connected your swing is
-early connection- measures the relationship between your body tilt and the vertical bat angle early in the downswing
-connection at impact- measures the relationship between your body tilt and vertical bat angle at impact
-power- measures the amount of power generated, in kilowatts, during the swing
-time to contact- the time measured from the start of the downswing to impact
-blast factor- the swing score for overall performance tracking
Blast Motion Devices are sensor’s that are placed on the knob of the player’s bat while they are taking swings, whether off of a T, soft toss, live batting practice, or in game action. The sensor records all of the above measurements in real time, takes videos of the swings, and provides a 3-D virtual image of the swings allowing the player, coach, and instructor to analyze each and every swing. The information from the bat sensor is instantly linked and logged to the players and coaches’/instructor’s profile for review and analysis, giving the player, coach and instructor information that simply cannot be seen or measured by the naked eye.

Participation is STRICTLY LIMITED, and will only be offered to those players that are deemed to be ready for it and that are thought to have bought in to the premise of training for the NEXT LEVEL. The PITCHING ACADEMY is a pitching specific training program and will focus on mechanics, balance, explosiveness, arm and core strength, and overall pitching specific athletic ability. A long-toss program will be instituted to increase arm strength and stamina, as well as flat ground skills drills for balance, body control, and consistency. THIS IS NOT BULL-PEN WORK, there will be no throwing off of the mound.
Participants in the PITCHING ACADEMY will be given an intro evaluation in athletic ability, fitness, explosiveness, and arm and core strength to see where they are at when they start the program, and will then be evaluated once a month during the program to measure their progress. Players will meet with Instructor Tanguy and discuss their evaluations and development throughout the program.
Players that are offered a spot in the PITCHING ACADEMY are expected to be all in, give 100%, and are expected to act as thought they want to be there. Any player that does not express these qualities throughout the program may be replaced by a player on the waiting list for the PITCHING ACADEMY.
